- Newsletters
- Meeting minutes for all levels (district, region, division, flotilla)
- Training materials — manuals, videos, examinations, posters, charts, maps
- Reports on important events in history such as the recent Hurricane Katrina catastrophe and World War II.
- Statistics — courtesy examinations, boating accidents, disasters
- Directories/rosters of individual members within the units
- Scrapbooks — pictures and descriptions of events
- Award certificates
- Medals
- Correspondence — awards, events, history of the USCGA
- Histories of the USCGA and individual flotillas. Many of the districts, regions, divisions and flotillas have a written account of their history. Some of them also have a copy of their original charter in their files.
- Photographs - educational and of individual events (celebrities include Disney characters, actors Lloyd Bridges and William Conrad, Kentucky Fried Chicken founder Colonel Sanders, and news journalist Walter Cronkite
- Videos — educational and of individual events
- Cassette recordings of speeches given at conferences and special events — some by notable individuals, including Walter Cronkite.

- Vessel details — Various CG and USCGA vessels are described in detail. Vessels not associated with the USCGA, such as the tall ship American Eagle, are also described.
- Other equipment details — Documents describe helicopters, engines and other equipment.
- Profiles of individual members - These profiles start at birth and give basic details of the individual’s life up until the time of the article.
- Obituaries of individuals as published in newsletters
- Timelines — Meeting minutes are excellent at providing a timeline of what is occurring in each area, including important historical events.
- General subject details — Uniform and Courtesy marine examination requirements, seamanship skills, information about new technologies, weather-related activities (hurricanes and typhoons), and medical treatment related to water activities, and safety equipment.
