Subject Guides is good place to start your research. Subject Guides combines the best reference materials, databases and websites on a topic in one place.
Subject encyclopedias are also useful places to start. Credo is a a good database for searching encyclopedias online. Subject encyclopedias can:
- introduce you to a topic and provide an overview
- provide some of the terminology or jargon unique to the topic
- provide important names, dates, places, and people related to your topic
- lead you to other sources through the bibliography or "recommended reading" section.
If you are looking for articles, be sure to look at some of our databases. These databases are multidisciplinary, covering many different subject areas and kinds of periodicals, ranging from newspapers to peer-reviewed journals.
