North Carolina Newspapers Clipping File Search
Scope and Content
The file was developed especially for undergraduate students who need current information for term papers. Although the articles date from the 1920s, the primary period of coverage is 1992 to the 2005. Topics represented in the Clipping File include the arts, business (including specific companies), cities and towns, education, the environment, government and politics, history, medicine, and people. Although articles pertaining to the entire state of North Carolina are represented, emphasis is placed on Greenville and Pitt County. In some cases, photographs that appeared with the original article have been removed.
The database consists of subject headings used to organize individual newspaper clippings and the corresponding years for which at least one newspaper clipping pertaining to that subject is available. When a search is conducted, the database will return every subject heading containing the word(s) or phrase entered into the dialog box, along with the years for which at least one newspaper clipping pertaining to those subject headings is available.
