Legacy Families

I am so proud to be part of a long East Carolina legacy. Uniquely, this legacy runs through the women in my family. My grandmother, Neva Doughty Bennett attended East Carolina Training School & received her teaching certificate in the summer of 1926. Her oldest daughter, my aunt, Dorothy Bennett Bonner graduated from East Carolina Teacher's College on June 7, 1948. Her next daugher, my mother, Patricia Bennett Benjamin graduated from East Carolina College on May 22, 1960. I graduated from East Carolina University on May 9, 1987. I had to be a little different than everyone else in the family, I received my business degree, while everyone else obtained teaching degrees. We are also very proud of my cousin Marina Kay Bonner (the granddaughter of Dorothy Bennett Bonner), who is currently attending ECU and pursuing her teaching degree. I have a 12 year old son, Ben, but no daughters. I would be thrilled if he decides to attend ECU one day.
Congratulations on 100 years. My family is proud to be part of the East Carolina family!
