Legacy of East Carolina

Poem written by James Daniels, class of 1967 in commemoration of Founders Day 2006.
      Legacy of East Carolina

Many years ago, when my mind needed to grow,
East Carolina was the place I chose to go,
An education I considered second to none,
With added experiences for a lifetime when done,

Memories of that special place remain very strong,
Even after 39 years, my feeling cannot be wrong,
That beautiful campus with a charm of it's own,
Is frozen in time and will never be gone,

For a true pirate, it takes a lifetime you see,
Purple and gold runs through every inch of me,
Time passes by with great speed every day,
But I remember my time there in a special way,

After all is said and done, I feel lucky, indeed,
To have attended East Carolina and planted the seed,
That has grown over a lifetime inside of me,
To love and admiration of a great University.
