Only Five Players From Last Year's Team
Under the direction of C.K. Beatty, a squad of candidates have been working out in the preparation for the opening baseball season.
Only five men are left from last year's varsity around which to build a team.These are John Hodges, Charles King, Jack Barrett, Eric Tucker, and Nelson Hansucker.But there are several possibilities among the new candidates.New Material includes:Tommy Hicks, "Runt" Bostic, Charles Lominac, Tomy Dennis, Albion Dunn, Plato Evans, Alex Dail, W.O. Jolly, Tom Henderson, Melvin Willard, Harry Dail, "Sat" Currie, Bon Lang, Charles Rumley.
Prospects for the season have been enhanced by the registration of Bob Forbes, Milton Harrington, Sat Currie, Bob Lang, Charles Rumley.
Alva Van Norwick, manager, has not fully completed schedule, but it will be published in an early issue.
Due to the condition of the diamond there has been no regular practice as yet.Laborers under the direction of Mr. R.C. Deal have been busy working on the diamond and it will soon become one of the best in Eastern North Carolina.
