ECC Opens New TV Show Tomorrow on Channel 7

East Caroina College's new weekly television series "Impact" will begin Sunday, October 28, over Channel 7 at 2:30 p.m. Originating form Station WITN, Washington, N.C., the half-hour attraction will present each week a short feature of educational and entertainment value and a program of music.

Dr. John Navarra, faculty member of the department of science at the college, and a group of pupils from the city schools will appear on the initial telecast "Making Science Intresting to Young People." Dr. Navarra is author of several textbooks on science and of numerous articles dealing with the teaching of science in the elementary grades.

Sunday's program will be enlivened with a number of experiments planned to be of interest to both young people and adults and to illustrate some of the basic principles of science. Children participating in the telecast will be Gregg Hardy, Brenda Mumford, Marc Christopher, and John Navarra Jr., fifth grade pupils in Greenville schools.

Music will be provided by a quartet representing the Baptist Student Union at East Carolina. They are Gerald and Sara Murphy, China Grave; Carolyn Massengill, Smithfield; and Perry Jullian; Salisbury.

"Impact" will be continued Sunday, November 4, at the same hour with a program on "National Political Affairs" with Dr. W.E. Marshall of the East Carolina department of social studies as speaker. Student members of the East Carolina chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, national honorary music organization for women, will appear in a group of songs.

Students of the department of health and physical education and their instructor, Nell Stallings of East Carolina faculty, will give a program November 11 on "Bodily Mechanics," with emphasis on the idea of everyday activities as good exercise. Janelle Lovette of the cellist, accompanied by Ruth Graber, both of the college faculty will play a group of selections.
