Askew And Bunn Are High Scorers
RAMBLERS TO PLAY CHOWAN TONIGHTOverton, Hearne and Briley Do Good Work As Guards
Coach Frank again used his entire squad of eighteen last Thursday night when the Ramblers added another victory to their record by defeating the Rocky Mount Y.W.C.A., 34 to 31.Although this is the fourth victory during the past two years that the E.C.T.C. girls have taken at the expense of Rocky Mount, each contest with the exception of one, has been fought on almost equal terms.
The outcome of Thursday's game was settled in the first half by the E.C.T.C. team which rolled up a total of 28 points. Getting off to a fast start, Anne Askey, and Mary Ella Bunn soon outclased the "Y" team in scoring. Askew was high scorer for the Ramblers with thirteen points. However, Mary Ella Bunn was able to net eleven points, nine of which came in the first half, during her ten minutes of action. Brinkley, of Rocky Mount, was high scorer of the evening with 16 points.
Briley, Overton, and Hearne guarded excellently during the first half of the game and limited the "Y" team to two action goals.
Tonight the Ramblers will meet Chowan College -- who thus far have a perfect record of two wins. Indications are that this will be one of the hardest fought games of the season.
