Did you know . . . ?
John F. Kennedy visited the ECC campus (Sept. 17, 1960) while campaigning for president. Campaign rallies were held at several venues. The smaller photo is of Kennedy addressing a rally; campaign posters are clearly visible as well as an ECC logo on the podium and the backdrop. The larger photo is of Kennedy at the Ficklen Stadium rally. The Stadium was filled to its 10,000 seat capacity. Other dignitaries on the podium are future Governor Terry Sanford, Senator Sam Ervin, Governor Luther Hodges, ECC President Leo Jenkins, and Senator B. Everett Jordan. The reel you see contains the speeches made by JFK during the rallies.
