1923 Tecoan
East Carolina Teachers College began publishing a yearbook to document student life on campus in 1923. It was named the Tecoan (Teachers College Annual) and printed annually until 1951.1934 Tecoan
The 1934 Tecoan is a special volume in the history of East Carolina. This annual was published the year East Carolina's first president, Dr. Robert Wright, died, and his twenty-five years of service to the college were remembered in a memorial page. Also, the theme for the 1934 yearbook was pirate folklore. Due to the popularity of the theme, this yearbook served as the catalyst in the decision to change our name from "the Teachers" to "the Pirates." The rest, as they say, is history!1952 Tecoan
After ECTC became East Carolina College in 1951, the yearbook continued to be published, but the name was changed to the Buccaneer to reflect the college's change in status.
