Finding Articles on a Topic
When you need to locate a journal article about a topic, search one of the numerous databases Joyner Library provides. Many full-text articles are available.
Databases – Provides a listing of all databases available. Some databases are multidisciplinary covering a wide range of topics while others are discipline specific. You may search for articles by keyword, author, title or subject.
Pirate Source – Use this tool to create a list of suggested databases for use in particular academic fields.
Locating a Specific Article
Citation Linker – Use this tool to locate a specific article. Provide as much publication information as possible including: article title, journal title, author’s name, volume, date and page numbers.
E-Journal Portal - Use this tool to determine if a journal is available online. Search for the journal title only.
What if a Journal is not Available Online?
Search the Joyner Library Catalog using the “Journal Title Alphabetical” option; search for the title of the journal you need, not the article title. The print version of the journal may be housed in Joyner Library.
If you live outside of Pitt County, Interlibrary Loan will procure the articles you request and e-mail or mail them to you whether they are owned by Joyner Library or not. Use the Interlibrary Loan system ILLiad to request these. Residents of Pitt County must come to the library to retrieve printed articles.
